National Standard Instructor details – important, please read!
All National Standard instructors with a CTSB number have been sent a letter in the past week to inform them that the record of their CTSB number and contact details are to be transferred from the CTC to the Department for Transport (DfT). This is part of the migration of the central database of National Standard Instructors from the CTC to DfT, in line with the ongoing centralisation of cycle training governance and the maintenance of high quality cycle training.
Instructor details will be transferred to the DfT database by default, unless instructors specifically decline the transfer.
Any instructor who declines the transfer will no longer be recognised as a qualified National Standard Instructor. Unrecognised National Standard Instructors are not permitted to deliver or lead Bikeability sessions. Bikeability schemes using unqualified or unrecognised instructors risk losing their Bikeability status.
Scheme organisers are therefore advised to encourage their instructors not to decline the transfer of their records.
If you or your instructors have any queries please contact the CTC on 0844 736 8460. Otherwise, instructors only need contact the CTC if they specifically wish to decline the transfer or to remain on the CTC’s contact database. Instructors can do so by visiting www.ctc-maps.org.uk/training/login and using the login details included in their letter.
The DfT’s central database of National Standard Instructors is currently managed by transport consultant Steer Davies Gleave in accordance with the DfT’s data protection policy.
